With just a quick scan of your urine, UrinDx-Lite (ur-in-dex) uses spectrophotometry to track changes in the composition of your urine, identifying patterns of specific molecules and groups of molecules that may indicate signs of pathology.
Take urinary tract infections (UTIs), for example. Did you know that some UTIs are caused by a build up of bacteria? Well, UrinDx measures changes in the turbidity of your urine as urine flows through the device. Starling Medical's app then compiles changes in these absorption characteristics and others over time into a holistic score called the UrinDx Score. This score is indicative of changes in turbidity levels, giving you a snapshot of your urinary health.
With the accompanying Starling Medical app, you can easily monitor your UrinDx Score and receive alerts if your urine shows characteristics of elevated turbidity levels, which can be used in the aid of screening for a urinary disorders. Plus, your score will continue to improve in accuracy the more you use UrinDx-Lite. During the first week, try to use UrinDx-Lite multiple times a day so your score is more representative of your health.
It's important to note that while UrinDx-Lite can help identify early warning signs, it is not a replacement for your healthcare provider. But, with UrinDx, you'll be one step closer to taking control of your urinary health!
So, what does your UrinDx Score mean?
When getting started the UrinDx needs consistent sampling and time to calculate your baseline score. Samples taken while your baseline is being determined will show up as logged in the Starling Mobile app.
The UrinDx Score is divided into 4 sections:
Clear indicates that your urine is clear and your urinary health is likely good.
Elevated serves as an early sign that your urine is becoming cloudy and could indicate decreasing urinary health if it persists. At this stage, we recommend you incorporate the recommended preventative care previously discussed with your care coordinator to lower your risk. You can contact your care coordinator directly through the phone number they provided you with at the start of the program.
Needs Attention indicates your urine is turbid and may indicate risk for a urinary disorder if it persists. At this stage, we recommend you follow the recommended preventative care previously discussed with your care coordinator to lower your risk. Your care coordinator will be alerted and call you directly if your trend is concerning. Your care coordinator will connect you with downstream clinical care if needed. Remember, you can contact your care coordinator directly through the phone number they provided you with at the start of the program.
